Pringle Bay Rewilding promotes a conservation approach where efforts to restore and protect the natural biodiversity in and around the village are encouraged. This is a progressive approach whereby nature takes care of itself. We encourage the repair of the natural ecosystems and restoration of the renowned biodiversity found in the area. One of the ways we would like to offer the community on how to “rewild” oneself is by learning about the fauna and flora of our immediate environments. Pringle Bay falls in a recognised Critically Biodiverse Area (CBA) and is part of the extremely sensitive southern coastal transition zone of the Kogelberg Biosphere.

Gordon Eaglesham (2019)1 defines rewilding as a simple concept of giving land back to wildlife and wildlife back to land which is based on science and fact with an inspiring vision. This movement is spreading beyond academia into our thoughts where we as humans are wanting changes for the better and hope for the future of our planet. The human disconnect from nature is well documented so the question to ask ourselves is when did we spend a day in nature and how did it make us feel? We simply need to give nature a chance. Rewilding is a philosophy of how to become one with the intricate ‘web of life’ where we accept responsibility for the damage done in order that our children’s children may enjoy the nature that surrounds Pringle Bay today…
