ReWilding, as applied in the USA and Europe, involves restoring the balance found in nature by reintroducing species such as predators e.g. wolves which have been displaced/eradicated from natural wilderness areas and reserves. 

More than half of all people on earth reside in urban areas, and the number is increasing. Many unspoiled natural areas are disappearing to make space for housing for the increasing population.  People feel a need to reconnect with nature, hence the attraction of rural and semi-rural living.

Pringle Bay ReWilding  was formed by volunteers who recognize the importance of preserving the unspoiled nature found within the village of Pringle Bay, situated in the buffer zone of the UNESCO recognized Kogelberg Biosphere Reserve (KBR). It tasks itself with initiatives related to the sustainable preservation and maintenance of the natural heritage within and surrounding the village.  Several unique animal and plant species are found, and are endemic to this area. Many species are endangered, destined for extinction without dedicated conservation efforts.  The loss of any species often has an adverse influence on several other species.  For balance in nature it is important to protect all species.
